Welcome To Troop 1011
It is hard to believe we are only a few months from 2022. My hope that we would return back to a state of "Modified" normal has not fully happened yet. This year has been a great year for the troop. We had a decent number of Merit badges completed as well as a very active Summer Camping session.
As a troop we were able to take place in the inagural camping of Camp Strake which is located in Coldspring TX. This is our premier local District camp, and has a lot of activities to keep the scouts engaged and challenged during routine camping.
We were also fortunate enough to have (2) crews available for high adventure activities. We sent one crew to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico where they hiked the back country and spent 12 days hiking. The other crew left a few days before and they went to Florida Sea Base (FSB) in the Florida Keys and spent a week sailing / snorkeling from a 45' sail boat. When they were done they spent an extra couple of days to drive to Cape Canaveral and tour the NASA facilities.
As a Scout Master and leader of the troop, our adult leaders dedicate our time and efforts into ensuring that the youth are ready for the future. These experiences, while spending time outdoors help build charachter and enfources the values of Scouting.
The mission statement for Scouts BSA sums it up:
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
This is followed up by the Scouts BSA vision:
The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.

In closing, I hope if you are visiting this site and have a youth of Scouting age (Lion through Scouts BSA) that you come and visit. This is a great place to learn skills that will help all youth in their adult lives.
