Only 4 Meetings left before June Court of Honor

As there are only 4 Meetings left before June 7th Court of Honor, get your requirements done to Rank Up and receive your rank recognition at the Court of Honor!

In Scouting America a court of honor is a formal troop ceremony usually held twice per year where Scouts and their families come together to receive rank advancement, merit badges, and other awards. It is also important for Scouts to participate in a court of honor because it counts towards the Second Class requirement 1a and First Class requirement 1a. It is not a regular troop meeting. This will also be when the Troop announce new leaders for Patrols and new Senior Patrol Leaders.

Adults Volunteers needed!

REQUEST FOR ADULT VOLUNTEERS!
We need scout parents to dip their toes into the waters of adult volunteers. Firstly, we need someone who can organize the swim test for summer camp. We do this before camp every year to avoid spending time lining up to do the swim test at camp. If someone who brought their child to the swim test at Hanover YMCA last year would like to take that on please speak up. We also need adults to go on camp outs or volunteer to run an activity for the troop. If you are interested in anything like this please come to the monthly troop committee meeting. Typically, they are 2nd Tuesday of the month, but they are listed on the troop calendar on this website. As scouts age out then so do parents and we want to keep the troop exciting and vibrant  with some new leaders!
Also with the new rules for overnights, you need sign up to be an Adult Volunteer if you wish to stay overnight with us!.

Camping merit badge

The camping merit badge can be earned over time. A scout can fulfill the requirements for it just by taking part in camps and activities offered by the troop. Part of the requirements include attending 20 nights of camping!  This may seem a lot, but with 6 nights at summer camp and regular camp outs throughout the year, this can soon be achieved. This merit badge requires some specific types of experience while camping, including snow camping, snow shoeing, hiking up a mountain over 1000 feet, going on a bike trip of 15 miles, and others.  When the opportunity arises, scouts should make the most of it. One of these opportunities is in May when the troop will be going to Mount Monadnock.  This camp out will be an excellent opportunity to mark off one of the harder to complete requirements. Many of these experiences can occur without having to actively try to tick them off, by just taking part.

Advancement happens when you're having fun!

Please check this link for a list of town meetings this week. Scouts working on the Citizen in the Community merit badge OR the Communication merit badge need to attend and report on a town meeting as part of their requirements.  The same meeting can not be used for both merit badges.
