JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE
Congratulations on Troop 501G
Background:
The 501st started as part of the Republic under Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano's command. It continued on into the Empire and New Order. We felt it only fitting that since the Boy Troop has more of the Vader's Fist/Empire feel and the Crew has a New Order feel, that the Girl Troop has more of a Republic feel. The 332nd is the Company formed under the 501st. It was commanded by Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's once padawan. We hope that our Girls follow in Ahsoka's strong footsteps.
Leadership: Troop 501G and Troop 501B utilize a shared Committee Members. Each unit has its own Direct Leaders (Scoutmaster and ASMs), but direct leaders work closely to help share knowledge, experience, and Scout Spirit between both groups as much as possible. Troop 501G currently has one female adult volunteer leader for SM and one female adult leader for ASM. Troop 501B SM and ASM also help whenever possible. Troop 501B Merit Badge counselors will be available to both units. Dedicated Advancement and Outdoor leaders for 501G are part of the shared committee.
Logistics: Troop 501G will meet on Tuesday nights at 7pm with Troop 501B. After a shared opening, our Girl unit either operates in parrallel to the Boy Unit or does shared skills training or skills competition activities. At the end of the night, there is a shared closing where announcements for both are shared for the good of all scouts and families. Some nights, speakers, patrol challenges or similar events may be shared but the goal is for girls to have a girl space and for boys to have a boys space. During campouts and similar activities, the girls will have their space/activities. Boys will have their space/activities and may have entirely different activities depending on the Scout Led plans.
NO PURPLING Red and Blue when mixed makes purple. Girls and Boys are not to hang out with each other during Troop activities unless for a specific, leader approved short term activity.
