Annual Arrow of Light Campout Details

CALLING ALL ARROW OF LIGHT SCOUTS!

Join Troop 501 B & G for our annual Arrow of Light campout.

When: Saturday and Sunday, October 4th and 5th

Where: Camp William B Snyder, Haymarket, VA

General Information                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

 
Troop 501 B and Troop 501 G will be hosting an Fall Campout Annually.
All Arrow of Light Scouts are invited to join us.
Our goal is for AOL to eat well, have rank advancement opportunities, learn about our Troops and HAVE FUN!
We normally ask for a small fee to help us offset the cost of food and materials.
      ($5 per attendee.  Either cash on site, or you can paypal/Venmo ahead)
RSVPs are important to help us will planning.

Scouts must attend with parents or as dens with registered leaders.
Parents/Dens are responsible for having Med Form A/B for each scout.

Please let us know of any food allergies or restrictions in the Sign Up Genius.

Saturday evening our leaders (who currently are or who have been Web/AOL/Cubmasters themselves) will share a bevy of leassons learned to help your and your Den have the best year ever!
Our Recommended Packing List for a Arrow of Light Weekend
[ ] Day Pack: This can be a Camelbak or backpack. No string bags.
              Something to carry their Cub Scout essentials in.

Cub Scout Essentials+
[ ] Small, Personal First-aid kit: 
    adhesive bandages, moleskin, gauze, antibiotic ointment, etc.
[ ] Water bottle: filled and large enough to last until it can be filled again
[ ] Flashlight: for emergency use only
[ ] Trail food: can be made as a den activity prior to hike or campout
                We do not want to keep in tents though.
[ ] Sun protection: sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater and a hat (water/sweatproof)
[ ] Whistle: also for emergency use only

Recommended Boy Scout Essentials
[ ] Bug Spray (with Deet)
[ ] Pocket Knife (if parent allows) with Whittlin’ Chip
[ ] Raingear (coat or poncho)
[ ] Compass

Lighting System Additions:
[ ] Spare batteries (in ziplock bag) - make sure that they are the right size 
[ ] Glow stick
[ ] Wet wipes
[ ] Spare, dry socks (in ziplock bag)

Sleeping System
[ ] Sleeping Bag or two blankets 
[ ] Sleeping Pad (if nothing else, grab a yoga matt from 5 and Below.)
[ ] Knit cap (recommended to keep head warm on cool nights)
[ ] Pillow (recommended but not needed)
[ ] Sleep Clothes: Sweat pants, t-shirt, clean socks, sweat shirt
                   Something clean, dry and warm makes all of the difference

Footwear
[ ] Hiking boots or good sneakers for hiking
[ ] Spare sneakers in case first pair gets wet and/or “camp shoes”
    NO SANDALS. NO CROCS.

Toiletry Bag (A Scout is Clean!)
[ ] Toothbrush    [ ] Toothpaste  [ ] Small bottle of liquid body wash/soap
[ ] Brush/comb                    [ ] Small wash cloth

Clothing 
(clothing should be packed in gallon size or 3.5 gallon sized zip locked bags)
[ ] Saturday: Cub Scout Pack T-shirt (Class B), (shoes), socks, underwear,   
              shorts/pants
[ ] Spare Bag: clean shirt, shorts/pants, underwear, socks
Cooler weather clothing
[ ] A pair of long pants
[ ] sweat shirt or long sleeve shirt (Scoutmaster likes his flannel shirt)

Eating System  (we try not to use throw away products)
[ ] Mess Kit/Plate
[ ] Cup for Hot Cocoa/similar
[ ] Fork/Spoon/Knife

Other
[ ] Any medications - With Parent or Den Leader
[ ] Storage: Backpack or large duffle bag to carry clothing, toiletries and spare footwear above
[ ] Camp Chair

    YPT Rules must be followed
    Troop 501B has a limited number of tents available to borrow. Email us if needed.

PROHIBITED:  Axes, saws, fireworks, weapons, non scout appropriate attire
