Problems with SMS Delivery

TroopWebHost uses a technology called SMS gateways to send emails as text messages. Unlike other options for sending text messages, SMS gateways do not incur a per-message fee; this has allowed us to offer the service at no additional charge to our subscribers.

Unfortunately, many carriers have discontinued their SMS gateways in recent years. Some carriers, such as AT&T, have formally removed their SMS gateways; others, such as Verizon, and T-Mobile, appear to be gradually shutting down their SMS gateways without official notice.

Because of this, TroopWebHost can no longer guarantee that SMS text messages sent from our system will be reliably delivered. As an alternative, we would encourage our users to install the TroopWebHost mobile app and make use of our in-app Messages feature.

We are considering removing our support for SMS messaging entirely at a future time. If your troop has a specific need for SMS that could not be covered by email or in-app messaging, please let us know via email or Support Ticket to help us assess our best options moving forward.
